Cider-making season is here! So with 30 tonnes of beautifully bitter-sharp Brown’s cider apples to press, I was glad to have the help of a very special apprentice cider maker…
At the risk of suggesting that the serious busienss of artisan cider making is child’s play, Daddy’s little helper is certainly a dab-hand at taste-testing and ‘driving’ the tractor. And a good thing too, as there are several days of work ahead to press this many apples. This will give us enough juice for around 16 vats of what will mostly become our Medium Sweet cider, with the rest being used for our new Black & Browns blackcurrant cider.

And as for my apprentice… in the words of Lord Sugar, “YOU’RE HIRED!”
